Aurora

Aurora Aksnes was born 15 June 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. The name she is most commonly used for her professional work is Aurora or sometimes stylized with the letters in uppercase as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released through Label Decca Records in May 2015 receiving great approval from musicians and music blogs as well as the media. The singer has released a number of high-profile cover songs, like Half the World Away (by Oasis), from the band Oasis) to accompany John Lewis' Christmas advert as well as Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) and were widely appreciated. She gained some further recognition via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed the song Runaway. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memory is of finding an old piano that was hidden away within her attic, then getting enthralled by the sounds it produced. The parents of her May-Britt family and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as a profession or a hobby, but rather to gain experience. In order to do so she started writing her own songs that were her own creations. Alongside Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother encouraged her to perform her music on stage, not in order to gain fame but rather to make others aware of how significant they are and what they could do to improve the world. In the age of 6, she began to play on the piano. When she turned nine, started writing songs. It wasn't until her 14th birthday when she first told her parents. There was no way she could have imagined for her to achieve Aurora. She claims that she enjoys making music. Music is for her the ideal way to be able to feel everything.
